Can Mocamp

And finally our well earned rest…
Here in Kaş we found free hospitality for the all winter at the Can Mocamp, a small lovely camping empty of customer but full of anarchical spirit.

If I think about the sequence of events that brought us here I can recall glancing a road sign “Adana” left “Antalya” right. We were coming from the cold of Cappadocia and were looking forward to the sea. Our choice to go to Antalya (and then Kaş) was absolutely random.
Was it also a lucky choice? I don’t know… I’ve always been interested by the crossroads of destiny. What if we decided to go to Adana? Who knows… the choice has been completely in our hands and now this is our present: just a small skid to the left and our present now would be almost 1000km away from here.
But there is something I’m sure about: any choice we would have picked, we would have enjoyed anyway!

The people of Can Mocamp:

Linus. Blond Swedish of 24. Has been here since March (!). He spends his days alternating between the following activities: sleeping, watching movies, walking for kilometres under the sun wearing a wool hat (but bare-breasted), eating a chicken + eggs + mushrooms mush (his only nutriment), working out, drinking Nescafe milkshake (8 per day) and pickaxing the soil. Ah, there are rumours that once he went to the beach! He is as odd as no fool.

Regis. French, 37 years old. He quit a 10,000€/month job and now he has only one goal: becoming Diving Master. He is the only paying guest and absolutely our favourite one. When he found out about our trip he prepared an Excel spreadsheet with an estimation on the expenses in order to undertake a similar venture himself. He allocated 60,000€ on the van… totally another style, Regis! 🙂

Can (pronunciation: “Jan”). Chubby and lazy owner of the camping. He bravely refused to sell it to rich plungers for 1 million€ and now he doesn’t know how to pay his bills. Linus gave the best render: “..because he is a rebel. And this is his castle!” He is very generous and helpful, but the thing where he puts the most effort is diving.

Some friends of Can are also temporarily living here.
Arzu, diving instructor, she is trying to save enough money to go to Thailand (like almost everybody else here in Kaş). Nadin, he has two lives like superheroes: during the day he works wandering around on his beat-up quad (which kind of job he has nobody really knows), at night he gets drunk and laugh. Mehmet, another diver, he doesn’t speak a lot but he is too cute.

In the video I introduce the camping. It is moreover an incontrovertible evidence that I started to wake up early, sometimes even before dawn.
