Kathmandu earthquake…

nepal-earthquakeI’ve realised just now that I didn’t play my part; I was worried for Agata, and I was clearly shocked.
And probably now is not even the right time: I guess that from the television that the problem seems to have disappeared. Obviously – nothing is further from the truth. The very opposite is in fact true.
So here I am, in my small way, trying to do my best.

These are the facts: Agata was there when the earth rumbled and shook. She was there for all of it, just close to the magnificent Durbar Square that does not exist anymore. I instead, fortuitously, left Kathmandu with the bike one week before the disaster. So I’m speechless about the descriptions of what happened there… for 4 days I didn’t have any clue as to Agata’s fate, then I was able to breathe again. From what I’ve heard, felt and perceived, a proper description doesn’t exist. I can only articulate a single frightful phrase: the Apocalypse.
Agata found herself among ruins and suffering but instead of trying to find the quickest way to “fly away”, she chose to stay. Together with a small group of ordinary guys from all over the world, guys like me and you, they attempted to give a more logical response to the event.

They activated a Facebook page to collect donations with which to bring assistance to the small villages of the area. These villages were completely left out from the international support… and I believe that this help has found its target much more effectively than the renowned “branded” humanitarian organizations. This is the address (you can see Agata in the header image, on the right, totally covered by dust): Share for Nepal Earthquake

They have a truck and they are doing the impossible. Bringing food, tents, shelter and support to those who once had little and now have nothing. Smiles are the team’s reward. They have to move at night to avoid the ambushes of the plunderers looking for supplies… the Apocalypse.

That’s how it is. Anyone who can share, please share. If you can make a donation, please do it.
I’ve been directly touched by what’s happening but, such events concern the whole of humanity. And I think this is the most direct and effective way to be engaged and respond.

To those of you who would like to be more than a neutral observer of the living world.
To those of you who want to prove to be alive and conscious.
To those of you who would like to be liberated from the disempowerment, to activate their incredible, limitless potential.
